The Institute of Certified Business Counselors is a professional
association that is devoted to enhancing the knowledge and
professionalism of business advisors.
Membership Characteristics
Service, integrity and fair play are the basic fundamentals of I-CBC
members who are known for their candor in sharing knowledge and
techniques. Members providing advisory services in many different
disciplines are united by a focus on the continuation of businesses
through improved operations, profits or a change of ownership. The
different disciplines that are represented by the membership include
investment bankers, estate planners, accountants, attorneys, appraisers,
business brokers, mergers and acquisition experts, and business
consulting specialties associated with business transactions and
effective management.
Membership Requirements
All members adhere to the Bylaws and Code of Ethics of the Institute.
The Code of Ethics provides requirements of conduct, acceptable business
practices, prohibition against discrimination and the necessity to keep
informed of trends in the associated disciplines. Further, it spells out
disclosure requirements, defines the relationship a member must have
with his or her client and establishes covenants under which members
cooperate with one another. The Bylaws provide the resolve for breach of
the Code of Ethics.
